A small one room schoolhouse, erected in 1850 and active for just over 100 years in rural Austerlitz NY is the studio and workshop of artist Iyla Levy. The residency workshops will take place amidst the swamps and willows this light-filled building is set within. The room is adorned with windows at every angle and the space has been carefully carved to Iylas sense of beauty. The schoolhouse is a protected building, a part of the Austerlitz Historical Society and stands alone, aside from the white church which will sometimes host informational talks on historical moments. The room resounds with peace and spaciousness.
